Here’s my first cavalry model that I completed. Sir Roderick (you may remember I painted his retinue some time ago) from Blighthaven line of Ral Partha Europe. Also, to keep this post a bit more complete, I’ve added a Halfling from the Dungeon Delvers by Splintered Light. Unfortunately the Splintered Light miniatures are true 15mm, so their human sized miniatures are smaller than the rest of my collection. Excellent sculpts and poses though. I’ll present my ratmen from them soon.
Here’s my Wood Elf Warband from the Blighthaven line of the Demonworld range of Ral Partha Europe.
With these, I have finished my non-mounted/mounts/beasts miniatures from Ral Partha. With BREXIT changing the way goods enter into EU, I expect to have some serious increase to cost when ordering from UK-the holy land of miniature manufacturers. Until July I will be able to keep the cost low when ordering small packages, but after that time, unless a new trade deal occurs, my choices will be very limited.
I’ve ordered some pill bases for my mounts so, until that arrives, I’ll either switch to historics/ancients or go sci-fi.
I’m also considering making a tutorial of my painting technique, but I need to decide on the medium. Video or Pictures with text. Maybe a mix of both.
Now to the wood elves. I decided to go with an old school color scheme (like most of my painting style – I’m back to the 90s) using Green and Yellow uniforms and Red bows and spears.
I had processed my dried coffee grinds with green paint in the past in an effort to make home made flock. Doesn’t work well as flock, but the paint caused some coffee clumps, which look like small rocks. I’ve used this to texture the inner part of my bases, and I really like the variety.
The wood elves were painted with transparent or semi opaque paints and inks, and this really helps show the sketch prime underneath. It’s one of the best examples to show my technique in 15mm so far.
This is Sir Roderick’s Retinue from the Blighthaven line of Demonworld range from Ral Partha Europe.
It’s only the retinue, without Sir Roderick, who is mounted. I don’t have appropriate basing for mounts and beasts, so he’s on hold until I get some bases.
For the red uniforms, I did a pink undercoat, followed by an orange ink overcoat. White shields with red X freehand.

With these 10 Dark Elf Defilers from the Blighthaven line of Demonworld range from Ral Partha, I reached 200 painted miniatures for 2020 (haven’t posted my painted Sci-Fi miniatures).
For the color scheme I went with purple, pink and mauve. Feels like a retro game CGA color palette.
I rushed through the basing and did CA glue and baking soda before priming, but I didn’t pay attention and stuffed the mini in the baking soda. Unfortunately, this had the unwanted effect of baking soda climbing up in the feet of some miniatures.

Here’s the Orc Marauders warband from the Blighthaven line of the Demonworld range of Ral Partha.
These orcs are heavily armed and armored, but have no missile weapons, and that’s why, even though I had them already, I went ahead and got me the single orcs I posted before.
I was aiming for a white green flesh color, but it came out just lighter viridian. Nevertheless I went ahead with it.
For the bases, I did CA glue and baking soda on wooden bases, as I’m running low on coins.
I gave the shield a teeth pattern, white bottom and red top, and two black dots for eyes.

This is the high elf warband from Blighthaven line of the Demonworld range from Ral Partha.
I went with bright colors. White and pink, with leaf green shields.

Here is the Beastmen warband from Blighthaven line of Demonworld range of Ral Partha.
I’m running low on coins, so I based them on 20mm wooden disks instead. Quite cheap, but they are a couple mm taller than my coin based minis. Not much of an issue at table distance though.
I went with earth tones and used acrylic ink to create the different fur highlights. I also used different fur color choices for each beastman

Here I detail my Lizardmen Blighthaven warband from Ral Partha Europe.
I really enjoyed these sculpts. One thing that was a bit off, is how they were significantly bigger than the rest of my Blighthaven miniatures. Even their bases are different, than the traditional demonworld round bases. To address this I used larger basing materials, otherwise they would look a bit odd.
The archers didn’t have the quivers attached to their backs, so I followed the advice of a fellow warganer and put them on the ground in front of them.
I went with a simple paint scheme. The whole net and trident/fork attire gave me a swamp/fishing culture feel, so I chose my colors to represent this.
I painted their flesh green, again of sketching, but I washed the flesh with a blue-black wash. I wanted that green-blue hue. I painted the shirts and pants in yellow ochre for a ragged look, with a brown-black wash.
This is the Blighthaven Mercenaries Warband, again from Ral Partha Europe. I really liked these sculpts. Went with a blue uniform color and striped black and white shields. My custom wash turned out a bit stronger than I expected, giving a more dirty look, but I enjoyed the final result. These are supposed to be field warriors not ceremonial.
This is the Town Guard Blighthaven warband from Ral Partha. The pack is taken from the Nobles from the Demonworld line, and according to the site description, they are supposed to be better equipped than the Mercenaries warband (coming soon).
What was really evident from this is the difficulty to paint Yellow and less so, Red. Part of the reason, I got me later on a set of acrylic inks.
Also I didn’t know at the time that Lemon Yellow has a green tint. That and Crimson which I used, are not Primary colors, but close. Nevertheless I enjoyed the final result since they make a nice contrast together. I also like the heraldry choice.
